Cold Email That Leads With Value, Not A Quote | Business Unscripted Ep. 80
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A cold email can lose attention before the recipient even opens it. In this solo episode, Dave Worden breaks down an anonymized outreach sequence and uses it to examine a more value-led approach to the first message. The conversation focuses on the preview line, a relevant hook, personal context, and an offer that gives the recipient a reason to engage before being asked to buy.
In this episode:
• Why a generic sales opener can trigger resistance
• How a short preview line can earn attention
• Ways to lead with a useful offer instead of a quote
• How to think through the cost of a free offer and long-term client value
• A mindset reminder to adjust when plans change and keep moving
The second half connects changing travel plans with the realities of business: conditions will not always be ideal, but the next constructive action is still available. Listen for one change you can make to your next outreach message. What value could you offer before asking for the sale?

So grab your favorite cup and Joe. Let's jump into the show. Grab your favorite cup and Joe, and let's jump into the show, ladies and gentlemen. It is another amazing Friday morning. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Well, some of you it might not be Friday anymore if you're listening to this with you know on the audio version, but hey, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. We're here. I'm uh Dave Warden with Trying Business Solutions, and we are here to bring you our business unscripted podcast, my general partner in crime. Well, Dwarne, he's not here today. He's had a busy week himself. Again, it's a little bit difficult. He's 12 hours ahead over there in the Philippines, but great to have him when he's here. And but today, Dwarne, hope you get your rest, buddy. And uh we'll be hope to welcome you back next week. So today, you get another solo episode with me, and I guess a couple things that we want to go over, so stay tuned. I'm gonna give a I guess a live reaction, kind of sort of a live reaction to like an email chain that I've gotten recently from a you know somebody trying to solicit. So we're gonna give some feedback on my feelings on the emails and what could be done a little bit differently if they wanted to improve it. So hopefully, if that's something you're looking to do a little bit more, you can get some feedback there. And then also I mentioned last week we were heading down to Tampa Bay, me and my son to watch the Browns game, which man, the Browns won. That was probably I would have lost a lot of money if I was betting. I probably wasn't, I did not think the Browns had any chance of winning that game against Tampa Bay, but they did. So hey, we'll take it. But there's some things that came up, you know, just going through the entire weekend, traveling, all that kind of stuff that I thought was going to be important. I want to talk through today as well. And then if we have some time at the end of the episode, we'll kind of get back to some of that QA things that we've talked about. So if you're a business owner that you're aspire, or maybe you're an aspiring business owner, this is the podcast for you. We talk about things that we've done in our journeys between Duarn and I, we have like, I think it's like 30, 40 years of experience in entrepreneurship. But then also, you know, I have another 20 years in the corporate world and going through and leading different teams, things like that. And then Darren's got his own experience in that aspect as well. Uh, but we share with you maybe struggles, things that we've gone through in our journey, as well as things that we've helped our clients with right now, things that we're we're working on with our clients right now, so that you can learn to maybe not make those same mistakes and how you could potentially begin to implement them in your business on a day-to-day basis. So uh if you have any questions or anything like that throughout the show or just right now before we get started, feel free, you know, you can drop them down in the comments and we can answer them live. Uh, but again, you know, our goal is to help business owners kind of level up, give you advice. We're always looking to level up. You know, I said it a few times, you know, if you're never looking to learn, you're never looking to you know, kind of grow and maybe change some things, you're you're just gonna become stagnant and everybody's gonna pass you by, right? The world's always changing and evolving, especially especially nowadays, right? AI, everything changes every single week. So you never know what's gonna come down the pipeline. So you always have to be willing to at least learn and then make what the best decision is in that moment for you, your business, and your journey. So
A Cold Email Breakdown
Daveto get started, what I want to do is I'm gonna pull up, I'm gonna pull up this email chain that I got recently. So let's go ahead and and jump in into that. And so I want to give some, I guess it's it's pseudo-live reaction to it. I've I've looked over the chain, obviously, because it hit me because I was like, man, this thing kind of sucks. But just want to kind of share it with everybody and kind of get your thoughts. And maybe this is something that you've done yourself, cold email. I redacted the company information. It's not that important to the situation. I think the ultimate goal here is that we're trying to, you know, kind of just learn from the information. So hey Dave. I I hate that that intro. Like, especially if you don't know somebody, using their name in the first six, seven words, right? Screams that you are a salesperson or some sort of AI generated content, right? Because think about it, when was the last time you reached out to somebody you knew and started the email with, hey, whoever? Probably never. So if you're trying to kind of form that sort of personal connection, doing it with, hey Dave, it's not gonna be the way to do it, right? And when you also think about it, what are what are the the the first six, seven words they're they show up in your email. Typically, a lot of the email companies, right, they'll give you a preview line of whatever is in that email. And so if you think about it, hey Dave, they're not even gonna open up your email because they're gonna see that and be like, oh yeah, I don't know that person, especially if it's an email they don't recognize. So start off something that's going to grab their attention from their email, right? So we we'll come back to that how you can do that. But so how do you ensure that your office environment reflects the clarity and professionalism you're offered client you offer clients? Well, one, you don't even know if I bring clients to my office because you don't know anything about me. So what you want to do with this initial line after not saying, hey Dave, is you want to make it personal, right? Find some sort of thing recently, like you know, hey, I happen to notice, you know, I was in your building the other day, I walked by your office, and you know, I wanted to reach out. Make it personal, make it seem like you were there, and it's even better if you were there. But in here, this person, they don't even know if I bring clients to my office. They don't they don't even know they haven't walked into my office, they don't know anything about me. And so saying, how do you ensure that your office reflects the clarity and professionalism that you offer your clients? How do you know it doesn't? So you're automatically putting up that sales resistance, like, and that wall starts coming up as soon as I well, in this one, I didn't even open it up until the third email, but you literally can start seeing how that sales resistance wall can start coming up. And so this is why it's really good to start analyzing your own emails that you're sending out cold. You know, am I coming across, you know, if if I was if I was to receive that email, would I even open it? Would you even open it yourself? And so you got to use that sort of lens, you know, in in your business as well. You know, would your office be interested in a complimentary cleaning quote for your space? No, no, I would not. And and here's why. Like everybody can give me a quote. What's special? You in your this email has to hit home, like it has to, it has to engage me. And it's the biggest thing that I've had a lot of conversations with people a lot lately is what is in it for them? You know, that's what everybody thinks. What's in it for me? Right. And so when you're starting to do presentations, you're starting to do sort of outreach, you have to really think what is the benefit that I'm giving somebody in this email? What is the value, the education, the lesson, the special, whatever it is, but what is in it for them? And then once you give that value and you know what that value is from that email, now this goes into that first six or seven words, as we talked about, right?
Write A Better Preview Line
DaveInstead of saying, hey Dave, how do you, which if that's my preview, I already know it's a salesperson, walls up, I'm not even gonna probably open the email. But if you can find that value and then you can create that into an engaging six, seven, eight words, whatever's gonna be in that preview. Now you increase your likelihood of somebody opening up that email because they're engaged already. Boom. Before they even opened it up, they're engaged because they wanted to open it up, because you caught their attention. So in this case, my my kind of feedback here is stop giving a quote, right? The better offer in this situation would be hey, would your would your office be interested in a complimentary free cleaning? Show your value. You know, that is an offer that people can't resist. Who's gonna say no to a complimentary free cleaning? Nobody, right? So essentially, and here's the thing, you're not gonna do it on a Friday when you're busy, you do it on days when you already had nothing going on, and it's now part of your marketing, it's not part of your outreach. Because you think about it, if you really did understand where buy office is, you would understand that I'm on the third floor, and this office, this floor probably has 15, 20 different offices on it. So if you can come to me, give me a complimentary cleaning, and then you knock on a couple doors before you leave or before you do the cleaning and offer the same thing. Now you got six, seven, ten people that you are gonna show your value to Thursday when you were already slow, anyways. So this free quote, I don't want to quote that means all you care about is my money. You're not worried about showing me what value you have, and that's just the first email, right? So so when you go on to the when you look at the second email, right? You know, the second email, you know, would you be open to discussing cleaning services and getting a quote to know your options? No, no, I would not. Like again, you still haven't added me any value, you still haven't understood anything about me, right? All you've done in this moment is try to sell me your services. So a follow-up email to this, right? When we talk about, you know, would you be open to discussing your services or knowing your options? A follow-up to this would be, you know, especially if you're offering that free service in the first one, the follow-up would be, you know, hey, I I have some time Tuesday just opened up in my calendar and I'm gonna be in the area. Can I book you in for that complimentary cleaning? And that's it. Right now you're actually giving them a time. They know you're gonna be in the area, and it's complimentary. There's no pressure, like there's no price, there's nothing. You're just there to clean. They're hey, would this time work? So that's a great second offer follow-up email. And then the third one hey, do you think you'd be able to direct me to the point of contact who handles cleaning for your Cleveland location? I understand if not. So again, scanned response. She doesn't know anything about my business. If she knew anything about my business and actually did a little research, right, then they would know that I'm a solo person and that I am the point of contact. So this is just a canned cold outreach campaign that people blast everybody. And it's the exact reason why you have to be different when you're starting to do cold email, right? I hear it all the time. I see, I see, you know, different reports or different posts that cold email is dead. And cold email is dead if this is how you do it. If you do cold email like this, this is dead. People can read this from a mile away, nobody cares, right? You got to hit the person at the same exact time when they're thinking about cleaning services to get to get your email. Otherwise, it reads like a salesperson and it's the the sales walls up, and they're not gonna give a crap about anything that you're about to say. Nothing you can say in that email is gonna catch their attention, especially when we look at all three of these. If you take a moment you and you think back to these three emails that are right here. What one time did the email give me anything that was as value for me as the person, the prospect that they're trying to sell to? At what point did any one of these three emails actually give me value or anything that's gonna help me grow my business or help me and understand me? Nothing, right? And so this is one of the things that you really have to nail down in and understand in order for you to be successful at cold email. No, don't get me wrong, I'm not a cold email expert. All I know is that when I email people, they respond, but I don't blast people with the I don't blast with cold emails either. I've never done a cold email campaign. Well, let me take that back. I think I probably did a cold email campaign probably like three years ago when I first got started, and it probably sounded a lot like this, a lot like this, and I probably got as many results as this person did, because all I was worried about was what's in it for me and how can I how can I potentially sell you support service that's going to benefit both of us? But in reality, if you're benefiting the client and you're supporting the client, you're always gonna be supported. So, really, these emails totally need to be focused on what's the value, what's in it for them, how are you gonna help them? And in this particular situation with the cleaning client, my biggest suggestion to this person is going to be offer a complimentary cleaning. First, first complimentary cleaning. Don't lock it in, don't you know require anything from it. You know, if you really wanted to, I guess the only thing that you could require from it would be, you know, hey, would you be open to a complimentary cleaning? And actually, I would frame it this way, right, in the first email. So if we go back really quickly.
Lead With Value, Not A Quote
DaveSo we go back to this first email. First thing, obviously, don't say Dave. Hey, Dave. You know, start something with, you know, you know, I've caught your attention, or I've seen I've seen your profile, or I caught you this post, whatever it is that you want to personalize it with, or I was walking by your office, you know, saw your name, looked you up at your website, you know, include the website, and and saw some interesting things that caught my attention. And you know, you seem like a person that I would want to potentially kind of support, which brought me to, you know, would you be opposed to a complimentary cleaning for your office there in Westlake or wherever it is that you are? Right. And so, one, when you say those things like, would you be opposed? Most people they want to say no, but when you say no to that question, it's actually saying yes, right? So would you be opposed? No, no, no. Well, I guess I just committed to a free cleaning, right? So ask in a way where no actually means yes. But there's no negative side for me as the business owner. You know, you're giving me a free cleaning, okay? Absolutely. And then when they respond and say, you know, actually, I'm interested. Tell me a little bit more. Like when do you have available or whatever, like whatever you would typically say back? At that point, you say, Well, here's how it works, right? I got openings Tuesday and Thursday next week. I'll be in your area at 9 or 2:30, right? All I ask is that after the cleaning, you give me a review of what you think the cleaning was, and that you allow me to give you 10 minutes to talk through how that great service can be given to you to help you keep your office clean or whatever, however you want to word that, right? Right. What owner is gonna say no? Clean office, get carpage clean, trash taken out, whatever you're gonna do in that situation. And all I gotta give you is 10 minutes to let her listen to your quote. Sure. Sign me up. That is gonna get you a lot more attention, a lot more exploratory sessions or you know, initial cleans than this probably did. So think about what can I give away? What value can I add in this situation as a cleaning service? Free cleaning. Do it on days when you already are slow or you know, the capacity's there, and treat it as your marketing budget, right? Yeah, you have to pay some staff to clean the office, or maybe you're the one cleaning. So what? It's probably that that right there, you're even if you get let's just run the math on this real quick,
The Cost Of A Free Offer
Daveright? Let's just run the math. Let's say you send out all these emails, and you schedule, let's say you set aside five slots during the week, right now, five slots during the week to give away these free cleanings, complimentary cleanings, and each one takes about an hour. And let's factor in travel times, things like that for your staff. So you're gonna pay them two hours. And let's say it's two people and you're gonna pay them, let's just call it $20 an hour. So you're paying $40 an hour, so $80 for the sign up, and add in, you know, let's just call it $110, right? With taxes, benefits, all that fun stuff, right? So you're gonna pay $110 per vision, so $550 a week to do these when they when they actually sign up, right? When they actually respond to you. So $550 a week. Now, what is the actual service worth for you? Right? So if a potential client, this is why it's really important to know your customer lifetime value, right? Your gross profit of your customer that you bring on. So even if let's just say you have a typical cleaning service and the lifetime value for that client is five thousand dollars over the lifetime, right, of gross profit that they bring to your company. So five thousand dollars, it's a 10 to 1 ratio. So in this case, how many do you actually have to sign in a month to break even? Right? So let's figure that. So five, right? You're paying $550 a week, and you have four weeks in a month, so that's $2,000 a month, you're gonna pay in extra salaries and benefits, and each new client worth it to you is worth $5,000. That means really you only have to sign one every two months. So one out of, you know, you do 20 a month. So one out of 40. You're telling me if you come into somebody's office, you you're not gonna have a much higher close rate than one out of 40. You should be closing one out of five, 20%. Even if you're at 20% close rate, that means you're bringing on $20,000 of lifetime value and it's costing you $2,000 per month. And you're gonna tell me it's not worth it. So that's where you have to know your numbers. This is why it's so important to know your numbers, why it's so important to stop thinking of I'm giving away free things and start thinking of I want to show my value. And then what's that gonna do for me once I show the value for me to get the package? And I'm pretty sure if you're confident in your work and you're not just trying to be and grab money, if you're confident in your work, you're gonna sign a lot more than 20% of the people. And you're gonna totally increase your close rate percentages, but also you're gonna increase your MRR. And here's the beauty of that when you start getting busier, you don't necessarily have to do two spots or five spots a week. Now you drop it to two, maybe one. And so when the people that actually respond and say, Yeah, I'm interested, hey, I got one opening next week for this. Or I don't have an opening for this until three weeks from now. We're kind of busy, but I I have a cancellation, you know, the week of October 20th. Can I slot you in? Perfect. Now you can you're you're showing that you're busy, you're showing that you're scarce, and you're showing that you're really good. People assume that. When you're really busy, they assume that you're good. And then you're gonna come into their office and show them that you're good for nothing, win-win for everybody, right? So that's why it's really important to really pay attention to what is the offer, what is the value, what am I giving to them through these cold emails that they actually want to respond? And so think look look at your cold email campaigns, especially like this one. This one's a sales pitch, right? It's not a nurturing type campaign, it's just a straight three email sales pitch, standardized, boom, and they let it run. And when people respond, they respond. If they don't respond, whatever, they don't care, they're just running it in mass. And that's this is the kind of email stuff that I think like it's truly dead because people can read through it, right? Especially now, a lot of people have their AIs analyzing their email, anyways. You know, I'm building that into the command center that we're building so that I don't necessarily have to even worry about this stuff. It just automatically gets filtered out and I don't even listen to it unless there's actually something of value, actually, something of context that I need to understand and maybe I want to reach out to. So delve a little probably deeper that I walk through on that, but hey, that's my That's my feedback on that. You know, so do an analysis on your cold email, or maybe you're thinking about doing cold email and this is how you were gonna do it. And you're like, oh, well, now it's time to you know re revisit, revise, and repair. So uh if you have any questions on that or anything, like feel free to you know drop them in the comments, or you can email us, you know, if you have any copy or stuff like that, that you're like, hey, what do you think of this? I'm more than happy to kind of do another live review like this, or I can give you some feedback if you're interested in it as well. But this is cold email, you know, you want to make sure that you're going to really add value to the person that you're reaching out to. So this is where not only understanding the obstacle, but also understanding you know your ICP and what they need, the pains that they're facing, the struggles they're facing, and how are you gonna solve that or what's the value you're gonna give to them. So all right. So it's been a crazy week. Busy week, catching up. You know, I mentioned
When Travel Plans Change
Davewe were out of town, and so long story short, just over just a bunch of small events just kept changing and happening, like in terms of our travel plans. And it just got me thinking about how much like when I think of things like travel and you know, kind of planning and putting things in place, that you have to be willing to like go with the flow, you have to be willing to adjust when circumstances change. So, for example, you know, but we were totally planning on, you know, like maybe walking to the stadium on Saturday because our hotel was pretty close, but it was kind of raining, and so we got to have now, if we would have just continued, or maybe just said, hey, we're just gonna get an Uber, my son and I, we would actually miss like a fun experience that we actually had, where you know, we're dry, we're we're walking, and then we saw like those lime lime scooters or something like that. And so we were like, hey, let's just let's jump on the scooter, it'll make it quicker. And so we got there and we're like, man, that was fun. And so on the way back, the plan was, hey, let's jump on the lime scooters again. But so many people, it was raining, would have said, ah no, we're just gonna get an Uber back. But sometimes we're just like, hey, we're just gonna jump on the scooters and we're gonna keep going. And so we in in light rain, we're we're riding the the streets of Tampa on these scooters, and we thought it was fun as shit. And so it was a good memory after the game to you know be willing to continue with a plan, even if maybe things look a little gloomy. And so in business, sometimes, you know, if you there's a lot of days that you're gonna face that are
Adjust When Conditions Change
Davegonna be, you know, gloomy or stressful, or there's a lot of things unsure, right, about the future. You can't let that necessarily deter you from any plans you put in place or the path that you're taking. You have to be willing in in business to I don't know what to say, do the things that other people won't, right? You have to be willing to put in the effort when others would have thrown in the towel. Yeah. So when you think about it, me thinking back to the corporate days that I was in, a lot of times when the employee mindset sets in and people are like, oh, that's not really good. Uh, you know what? I'm just gonna just take my stuff. I'm gonna take my paycheck, I'm gonna take some PTO, I'm not gonna worry about that, or I'll worry about that later. Right? But as a business owner, you don't have that luxury or that fallback, that safety net that a lot of people have of, well, yeah, I'll just take some PTO and I'll worry about it later. No, you got to take care of your shit today. Because if you don't, who's gonna pay you? Nobody, right? And so it is this everyday sort of feeling that you have as a business owner where it's like, hmm, I wonder what tomorrow's gonna bring. And what I what I learned, or what I kind of constantly kind of remind myself, is no matter how much you are unsure about the future, you still have to put in the effort today. Because if you're not gonna put in the effort today, that the gloomy future that you see for yourself, that's exactly what's gonna happen. Because we live our life through our own thoughts, right? Our own mindset. So if we're going to let ourselves keep that gloom and let it affect our actions and our and our things today, what do you think is gonna actually happen in your business, right? If you worry about your client leaving and you you stop taking action today because you're worried about, well, I gotta go do other things to help maybe offset when that client leaves. Maybe you now have not given the client the support that they wanted, so they'd end up leaving. You caused it because you were thinking about it, instead of actually just focusing today on how you can support your clients better. And each person's situation is different. So, you know, again, you know, you listening to this may have a different gloom vision for your business or your next step than me, right? For me, the biggest thing is you know, not being able to launch the software that we want to launch or launch the different support apps that we're building for clients. Like those are some things that I'm like, man, what if this doesn't work? And instead, I'm like, well, if it doesn't work, let's figure it out. What's the alternative? And we start researching it now and building the plans for all of that, and you build it all in. For me, that's actually led to a lot of great sort of detour, as you can say, like in the in the road. Because what I was able to do is find out something that works better by looking at those options instead of just saying, well, I'm just gonna keep going on this path, because well, I'm stubborn, as a lot of people will probably say about me, yeah, you're stubborn, but I'm able to find a good detour that actually gets me to the you know and end goal quicker. And so just being able to recognize what is the doom, find out what you're afraid of, and then figure out how you can put into action today the steps or the actions that are going to ensure that that doesn't happen, at least increase the decrease the likelihood of it happening. Nobody can ever control the future, right? And so it really comes down, as I say a lot on this podcast or in the messages as Dwarne and I are talking or whatever, and it comes down to mindset. And it's a lot of a conversation that I have with clients is that in the day-to-day struggle, and I get they always say, you don't ever seem to feel that way, you know. And I'm like, well, one, I'm not going to, you know, I'm meeting with a client, you know, let you know how stressed out I am. But in reality, it's it's it's the same, it's the same way, like in life every day. I'm not, I don't put it out there how stressed or overwhelmed I am, because of I know that as long as I'm doing what I need to be doing today, there's no need to stress. Yes, there's deadlines coming up, or there's clients who who maybe want something a lot quicker than it can possibly be put together, and that's just managing and conversations and sort of expectations and and setting in and having those conversations with them. But I'm not gonna stress myself out to the point where I can't actually get work done. That's only gonna hurt everybody, and so going back to the initial statement, we live our life, right? Our reality is the actual thoughts that are in our head. So for me, I'm actually telling myself, instead of being stressed, I'm telling myself, right, these things are gonna get done. I will be able to present this outcome, app, financial statement, whatever it is, we'll be able to put this together and then we find a way to make it happen. If there's delays, we communicate them. If there's you know changes in the plan, we communicate them. But you have to think the positive side of every sort of right situation instance into yourself, otherwise your reality is just gonna be that negative that you see. Because that's all you're gonna find, right? You know, just think think think about it like when you think of a red car. Hey, I want you to start thinking of red cars. What are you gonna see the rest of the time when you're driving on the highway probably today? You're gonna look at you're gonna find all the red cars, or when you buy a new car, you start seeing every single person that's driving that same thing because your mind is already tuned to that specific thing, so you're gonna pick it out more. Same thing with negative and positive thoughts. If you literally fill your head with negative thoughts, that is all you're gonna find. You're gonna find the negative in every situation, you're gonna find the negative in every sort of opportunity, and you're going to hold yourself back. And then for most people, it becomes the victim. Well, nothing ever good happens to me. Or, you know, why do all the people around me, you know, end up hurting me, whatever it ends up being. Most of that comes down to because all you thought about was negative, and that's all you found. You saw the doom and gloom in every situation, every client interaction, in every opportunity. You saw the negatives that could possibly happen. And your mind, you allowed your mind to literally make that negative the reality. That's why I can't do that opportunity, because it has like a 4.2% chance of being a failure, and I can't fail. This thing has to work. So I'm just gonna pass up the opportunity. Who in the right mind, if you were thinking positively, if there's a 4% chance of failure and a 96% chance of being a success, if you were finding the positives, nobody would ever turn that down. So this is why it's really important for you, and you can only control your own thoughts. I can't control your thoughts for you, your spouse can't do it for you, you have to make that decision for yourself. You literally have to, and it's a training of your brain, but you literally have to control yourself to think positively. So when you're finding the negative, great. Now, what's the positive alternative to that? A great example of this was you know, a conversation I had with one of the gentlemen in our offices, where you know all the things that we said about what he possibly needed to do in terms of looking at his packages, looking at his ICP, having conversations, in the moment, it was all, well, what about this? Or what is that? Well, this happens, or this is what everybody thinks. And so it was clear that he was in that sort of negative spiral. But the great thing about him was he recognized it. He's like, Hey, I this is me, I guess I do devil's advocate no matter what, but he then went home, gave it, he sat in his own thoughts, and was able to see the positives then afterwards. And so that's fine. Because for a lot of people, changing from negative to positive is not just a switch that happens overnight. Switching from negative to positive is a routine, it's a habit. I'm not saying you're never gonna have negative thoughts ever again. The goal is that once you recognize that you're thinking negatively, is
Find A Constructive Next Step
Daveto actually go and switch it to positive and that delay, right? That length of time from when you start thinking negatively till that time when you can have a positive alternative and you start focusing on the positive, it gets reduced over time to where maybe it's minutes. Where right now, maybe some of you, if you're like me, it could have been days, sometimes weeks, that you would go in the negative before you found an alternative that's positive, if at all. So really just begin to train yourself. If you find yourself, that you're listening to this right now. If you're if you are in that negative mindset and you're finding the negatives in every situation, just start taking that moment, right? To say, wait, that's a negative thought. What's the positive to that? So if you start thinking, well, this has like a 20% chance of failure, and I don't know if I want to fail, I don't know if I could be a failure, man, this is gonna suck. Take a moment and really say, Well, wait a minute, what's the positive to that? Well, that means I'm at it's an 80% chance of success. I want to be a success, I want this to work. What things can I do to reduce the likelihood that it's a failure? And you start thinking of these different uh paths for success that you weren't able to see because you were thinking negatively. And I could tell you that that that that literally in my entire life has started to be the biggest change, not only in business, but just in life in general, is how do we start uh focusing on the positive? What's going on? Right. I don't ever want to continue to live right in the past. I don't want to continue to live in a future that's unknown. I'm going to live in today and take the actions I need today to keep moving things forward. And then I know that the future that I want for myself and the business and our clients, that's all going to happen. Because we're taking the action today. We're not allowing those negative thoughts to creep in and affect our day-to-day activities. And so you kind of have to think about that yourself. Because I've had some conversations with clients where these negative thoughts, the negative beliefs that they have, affect their day-to-day action and it causes delays in decisions that they know they need to be making today. They know that they need to, you know, replace an employee. They know that they need to go out and find new clients, but they're afraid of the negative. Even though the positive is going to help them more, they stay stuck in the negative. So if that's you, stop thinking negatively and start thinking on the positive side. Build that habit, recognize it, change the thought, and then figure out what action can I take to reinforce that positive thought I just had. And so if that's you and you need some support or you want just some bounce ideas off of, and or maybe you have trouble finding the positives in in negative situations, reach out. Like I'll point you in the right direction. I have no problem with that. Because we all need somebody in our corner that understands what we're going through. We all need somebody on our team that's going to push us forward. If you don't have anybody, that makes it even harder. So reach out if you if that's you. If you're negative and you have you have no idea how to find the positives in any situation, shoot me a message. I will I will help you and point you in the right direction and give you some positives to focus on from the situation so that you can continue to move forward. But with that, I think that's that's some good information for today. You know, I hope you guys have a wonderful week. I appreciate you guys, you know, whether you're watching this live or watching the replay or listening to the audio version. I appreciate you guys listening. We appreciate each and every one of you. Hopefully, there was one or two things that you were able to pull
Pick One Change And Get Started
Daveout of today's episode. Or if you've watched any of our other episodes, we encourage you to go back and listen to some of those as well. But just take one thing or two, and that's it. You don't have to try to do everything. You're not trying to do everything at once. If you try to do everything at once in your business, you're going to get overwhelmed and then you're not going to accomplish anything. So what we encourage is try to find one or two things every single week, whether it's just podcasts, whether it's other podcasts that you're listening to, and people that you're you know getting advice from, whatever that looks like, and focus on what are the one to two things that I can start today, right? That's gonna start making an impact, start making an influence in my operations and myself. That's where you start, and then you can start building from there. So I hope you guys have a wonderful week. Again, Dwarne will hopefully be back next week. We'll be back. We do this every Friday morning, any time around 8:30 to 9, um, depending on when we're able to hit play if we stop talking in the pre-show. But we got a lot of cool things coming from Triumph Business Solutions. I know Dwarne's got a lot of cool stuff going on. So I appreciate y'all. If you guys have a wonderful and amazing week, do all that fun algorithm stuff for me if you could, right? So if you got something out of today's episode, give it a like, give it a share, make sure you're subscribed, and you know, share a comment, share a question.
